Spain countdown: rally route

The penultimate round of the FIA World Rally Championship follows a similar format to last year. An opening leg of gravel and mixed surface roads is succeeded by two days of asphalt action, all in the Tarragona region near the resort and rally base of Salou. But while the territory is familiar, there is little opportunity of a holiday as 51 per cent of the 331.25km of stages requires new pace notes. One of three tests identical to last year is the exciting Barcelona street stage on Thursday evening, which launches the event’s 25th anniversary in the WRC.
