VW thanks Capito as he prepares for F1 switch

Volkswagen has paid tribute to Jost Capito, who will be leaving the manufacturer after nearly four years in favour of assuming a senior role within the McLaren F1 Racing team. The 57 year-old has enjoyed substantial success since joining VW as its motorsport director in 2012, Capito spearheading the manufacturer to three consecutive World Rally Championship titles in 2013, 2014 and 2015. However, just a week ahead of the 2016 curtain raiser in Monte Carlo, Capito has been named as McLaren F1 Racing's new Chief Executive Officer, where he will replace Jonathan Neale – who becomes Chief Operating Officer of McLaren Technology Group – and will work alongside Eric Boullier.
