Ogier slashes Latvala s lead on marathon 80km stage
Sebastien Ogier has given himself an outside shot at victory in Mexico after winning the mammoth Guanajuato stage to cut Jari-Matti Latvala's lead to just over 70 seconds. The reigning World Rally Champion made the most of his stronger road position - having led proceeding on the first three legs - to produce a phenomenal masterclass on the 80km Guanajuato stage, averaging a shade under 100km/h over SS22. His stage-winning time of 48m 06.8s blew any the predicted times from the Volkswagen Motorsport team and he ended the penultimate course 25.3 seconds quicker than Latvala to cut the deficit to 1m 10.4s.
