Mexico WRC: Sordo penalty snaps Hyundai podium streak

Hyundai driver Dani Sordo has lost his third place in the 2016 Rally Mexico due to a time penalty. Spaniard Sordo, who finished the rally with a gap of 1m58.5s over M-Sport's Mads Ostberg, had two minutes added to his time a few hours after the rally was completed - and was narrowly demoted to fourth place. The statement released by the organisers of the event confirmed that Sordo's penalty was a result of the Spaniard having used 29 tyres throughout the rally - one more that was allowed by Article 7.2 of the addendum to the regulations.
