Ogier cruises to Rally Sardinia success

Sebastien Ogier extended his lead in the World Rally Championship by winning Rally Sardinia in his Volkswagen Polo by over three minutes. Ogier cruised to victory on the final day, having overcome long-time leader Hayden Paddon on Saturday when the Kiwi suffered a spin and then hit a rock, damaging his Hyundai i20. However, Paddon still secured a career-best result in second, ahead of Hyundai teammate Thierry Neuville. The Belgian was 4m22s behind Ogier after inheriting third from Citroen’s Mads Ostberg on the final morning. Ostberg crashed while fiddling with his helmet’s intercom.
