Eli Evans sweeps both legs in Queensland

Australian Rally Championship front-runner Eli Evans was unstoppable at the International Rally of Queensland. Evans and co-driver Glen Weston wasted no time getting on with it, opening up a 3.1s lead over brother Simon Evans on the first stage of the first leg. But in the end, it was attrition that helped the younger Evans seal the first leg, with Simon’s day ending with a drive-shaft failure, Tony Sullens’ Citroen falling victim to a water crossing, and Molly Taylor slowed by a water leak. As a result, Adrian Coppin wound up second in Leg 1, Taylor dropping to third.
