Mikkelsen gets green light for Rally GB
Volkswagen Motorsport II pilot Andreas Mikkelsen will start Wales Rally GB, despite a scare on the eve of the event that forced him to skip the shakedown. Mikkelsen, who secured his maiden WRC victory last time out in Spain, had “not felt 100 per cent” on Wednesday and flew to Germany last night for a medical check-up by the teams doctors, described as a “precautionary measure” by VW. Luckily though, the “results came back clear” and he will now compete as originally planned. “Unfortunately we had to skip the shakedown today. I was not feeling 100 per cent yesterday.
