Andreas Mikkelsen surged to the lead in his Volkswagen Polo as the Norwegian clocked the fastest time in the 3.36km opening super special of the Rally of Portugal on Thursday. Mikkelsen, third in the drivers standings behind Sebastien Ogier after the four previous rounds, timed 2min 41sec. He finished the day ahead of the two other Volkswagens of France's Ogier and Finn Jari-Matti Latvala, who were 0.5sec and 0.8sec respectively. RALLY OF PORTUGAL STANDINGS: 1.
